Method

  1. Frying the onion

Melt the lard in a large, heavy-bottomed pot, then fry the chopped onion over a low heat until golden brown.

    10 min
  2. Browning the beef

Add the diced beef to the onion, season with salt, and fry until it releases its juices and begins to brown slightly.

    15 min
  3. Adding the paprika

Remove the pot from the heat, sprinkle in the sweet paprika, caraway seeds and crushed garlic, then stir quickly so it does not burn.

    2 min
  4. Simmering

Pour in the water, add the tomato, pepper and bay leaves, then cover and simmer gently over a low heat until the meat is tender.

    60 min
  5. Adding the potatoes

When the meat is nearly soft, add the potatoes and top up the liquid as needed, then cook until the potatoes are tender too.

    25 min
  6. Seasoning and serving

Season with black pepper and salt as needed, then serve immediately while hot, without resting.
